Direct Link

On getting spidered - There are more than just a few methods or strategies that can be used to gain inbound links to your blog. No matter what they are, these are motivated by the desire to gain traffic. Backlinks may come from forums which have a link to your webpage or virtual real estate on the World Wide Web. They easily allow a direct link to your site or page, they are also found by the search engines; search engines like technorati and bing which provide a listing of sites found on its database that meet the phrases for the queries. What's good about obtaining inlinks? A great deal.
With a large database at their command, the search engines are the obvious places to query when in need of a particular resource on the internet. Queries are performed with words, which focus the search to the result desired. Needing to know about "pet care"? Search MSN, now known as Bing or your favorite search resource. While being found directly through a direct link is desirable, its probability of happening is kind of limited which brings us to the big players of the Web, the search engines like Google and many others. To sum it up, you need backlinks in order to prove to the search engines of your importance as a resource for a particular keyword. There are many methods of obtaining links and some people swear by one-way linking. Whatever the preference, a combination of different techniques might be yield better results. End - Link Tactics.

So Serious

Everything seemed to be so serious. I thought I was doing the world a service by breathing the air and being alive. Now, I am finding that this might not be the case. Everything seems to point to me as being superfluous, irrelevant. Nothing I did seemed to make any sense. I think I am going to get rid of my tissue culture in my bottles.

I am seeing this to be a useless exercise. When the time comes I will probably go back to it but for now, it is just one more debacle in my list of failures in this life. There is no need to talk about it more. It's just the way it is.

Mind Control

If one is to gain control of the mind one must learn to concentrate. Concentration is nothing more than to focus one's mind on a single point, a single idea or a sound. Yogis use sound as the focus of their efforts and this sound is called mantra. Mantra comes from two words man=mind and tra=liberation. Mantra therefore is defined as that which liberates the mind. The yogi who wishes to gain control over his mind repeats the mantra in his mind over and over again and keeps his consciousness focused on that sound. This is how he gains control of his mind. It is not an easy process but if he perseveres he will attain a degree of control over his mind which he then uses to raise his consciousness to a higher level.

Instincts revisited

It has been a while since I last visited these pages. A couple of lifetimes ago, I started these pages and invested my time and effort on them. That has been a hopeful time for me and I thought that there would be something great coming out of these pages. Now, I realize that these are a part of my internet experience and maybe I would enjoy reading them in another lifetime.

Sleep Is Powerful

They say that when a man dies, all vital airs exit the body except for sleep which stays behind. It does not stay with the body for very long and later makes its departure leaving the body without any semblance of the life that used to animate it. Sleep therefore is a very powerful force that might be related to the greater or more efficient working of the living being. If we consider the fact that people sleep around eight hours a day we get a sense of its importance. The notion of rest and repair is easily arrived at. We can immediately draw conclusions regarding this aspect of sleep. But, what about that ever-present companion of sleep which is dreaming?

From what is known about dreaming, it would appear that the brain never sleeps even when the whole body is sleeping. The brain never shuts down. It is as if when the conscious mind is not busy manufacturing thoughts, it turns over control to the subconscious which starts churning out dreams.

Fear is a powerful force and so is eating and sex but when the stomach is full and after sexual activity, sleep naturally takes over. In very intensely fearful situations, a creature might faint or curl up in a ball or pretend to be inert and uninteresting until the danger devours it or turns away. In either case, sleep is the final outcome.

Eating Well, Eating Right

Eating is a basic, fundamental mental propensity which drives animals and plants alike. Man is not an exception to this, in fact man takes this basic instinct and makes whole philosophies about it. While it is true that animals feel a preference for one type of food over the other and and extreme example is the Chinese Panda which exclusively eats bamboo which also goes for the Australian Koala which prefers the eucalyptus leaves to the exclusion of other types of leaves.

What drives carnivores to feed on flesh? Do plants prefer a particular type of soil to others? Do certain organisms living in extreme conditions thrive on that which is poisonous to other organisms? Recent discoveries have shown that in volcanic vents, organisms feed on sulphur which is the death of most living things.

This world is full of surprises and things which are as yet undiscovered or little understood. This is also Ching's World. In Ching's World, there are ordinary things which bring a smile to a face. Long may Ching's world live and may it bring happiness to many.

Basic Animal Instincts

Right now I don't want to talk about the basic animal instincts which are Fear, Sex, Eating and Sleeping. I would like to step aside a little bit from this theme and talk about something completely different. I feel tired. I feel I should be sleeping right now but I had a hamburger and I feel I shouldn't be sleeping yet. I had pinned my hopes on making the website I so lovingly called Ching's World. I was not even sure that I would go on and launch it on the World Wide Web. What I mean is this was the first time that I would totally deploy a website on my own web server.

I had done some simple static websites which I had hosted on other servers but this one is different. I had to have a proxy server to keep the main servers from being exposed directly to the web. This meant that I had to have Linux as the Operating System and have Apache do the proxying. This is all very nice and neat theoretically but in actual practice it is whole can of worms. There are many issues involved and I have not even dealt with half of them. There is the question of load balancing multiple servers should the Website turn out to be a winner.

My Dumaguete site is doing very nicely unlike my Cagayan de Oro City site which is nowhere to be found on Cyberspace's horizon. I should do something on Cebu.
